A Sprinter is a fixed box. Every row of seats added takes its volume out of the luggage area behind the last row — the space does not appear from anywhere else. So a 14-seat Sprinter carrying 14 people and 14 suitcases is not the same proposition as a 14-seat Sprinter carrying 8 people, and an 11-seat van is often the right answer for a group of 11 precisely because it has more room left over.
This is the single most common booking mistake in group ground transport: matching the vehicle to the headcount and discovering the luggage problem at the curb. Count the bags before you count the people.
Standard carry-on and checked luggage stacks efficiently behind the last row. Ski bags, snowboard bags, golf travel cases and hard instrument cases do not — they are long, rigid and refuse to nest, so they eat far more volume than their weight suggests.
A group flying into Colorado for a ski week is the hard case: full headcount, plus a hard case each, plus boot bags. The feature that separates a Sprinter from every other group vehicle is roof height. High-roof Sprinters let most adults stand upright in the aisle, which changes loading, unloading and the whole feel of a long drive. Everyone sits forward-facing at normal chair height rather than low and sideways, with individual seats, interior lighting and climate control.

Twelve is one of the standard Sprinter layouts, but the number that matters when booking is whether your headcount and your luggage both fit — and with 12 aboard, the 14-seat van is the one with room to spare.
In a high-roof Sprinter, most adults can stand upright in the centre aisle. That headroom is the main structural advantage a Sprinter has over an SUV or a stretch limousine, and it is why loading a Sprinter takes a fraction of the time.
It depends entirely on how many seats are occupied, because seats and cargo share one fixed volume. Soft and standard luggage stacks well; ski bags, snowboard bags and golf cases do not nest and consume disproportionate space.
