This is the part that matters at ASE. The approach is steep, the terrain is unforgiving, and the airport’s weather minimums are strict for good reason. When ceilings drop, aircraft divert — most often to Eagle County (EGE), Grand Junction (GJT), or Denver (DEN). It usually happens while you are already in the air, and you find out on landing.
