Rental inventory in Glenwood is thin in high season, the highway climbs steadily, and Highway 82 through the midvalley towns is a two-lane road carrying commuter traffic twice a day.

The Glenwood Springs Amtrak station is at 413 7th Street, station code GSC, served by the California Zephyr between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area. Amtrak’s own station page describes Glenwood Springs as a gateway to the Aspen ski area, which is exactly what it is: the train gets travelers to within 40 miles of Aspen and no closer.
The Zephyr is also a long-distance train, which means arrival times move.
